Cocoroca

Cocoroca is a return to a millenium craft, at a very practical profession that Raphaelle Collette, its creator, controls all stages.

Who are you?

I'm from Paris and I started making jewelry when I was a student not daring to launch my own brand as I was going for more "nerd" studies. I therefore started my career in communication and adverstising film production for several years but something was missing. Cocoroca was born almost by accident in 2014 and fully fills my hopes today.

Why did you choose to go into fashion ?

I have always been sensible to fashion and creation. When I was young, I spent my time drawing. I also did a lot of embroidery with my grandmother. This sector now allows me to combine my lifelong passion with other skills acquired during my career: marketing, communication, negotiation and financial management, choosing the right suppliers, managing production etc. Being an entrepreneur in this industry requires to have several strings to his bow !

Could you describe your creative universe ?

The colors, motifs and light are the main material I work with. I would like my jewelry to be perceived as pieces of identity and sushine.

What are your sources of inspiration?

My inspirations come from my graphic culture, my travels, fashion of the 70s and 80s, contemporary art, architecture, street art and a lot of music.

How do you manufacture your pieces?

I draw all styles then study their manufacture with my collaborator, Dorothée. Everything is handmade in our Parisian workshop. I attach great importance to quality. All jewelry (except adjustable rings and stiff cuffs are gilded with fine gold) are 14k gold filled, a technique that is more precious and more durable than conventional gold plated. The gold filled is really close to gold. All our pearls are pearls from Japan.

Can you tell us a couple words about your collaboration with MonDéfilé?

I am very fascinated by the concept of MonDéfilé which team is visionary and dynamic. I hope this is just the beginning!

If you were a garment or accessory, which would you be?

The Zanzibar cuff bracelet, the iconic piece in the collection Cocoroca 2016. I rarely go outside with it.
