Suprême Bon Ton

Suprême Bon Ton

Ella Perdereau studied design, textiles and fashion. Today, thanks to beautiful encounters, she launched her own brand Surprême bon Ton.

Who are you?

My name is Ella Perdereau, I live and I work in Paris in a beautiful studio apartment near Père Lachaise. Naturally independant, it is yet thanks to beautiful encounters that gave me wings, that I launched my own brand. I wanted to create an object that we can pass down through time. The scarf seemed ideal to reflect my idea of passing and memory.

Why did you choose to go into fashion ?

I grew up in a small village of 800 inhabitants. When I was a little girl I often visited my neighbours. An elderly lady, who formely worked as a dressmarker for the Paris Opera. Her attic was full of fabric, buttons. Another woman had worked to renew the Louvre painting department. With these neighbours, my eyes kept shining as I spent all my time admiring colors, materials and shapes.

Then I became a student and did several work placements in beautiful fashion houses, and in NGOs abroad. Moreover I entered the university of applied arts in textile design in Lyon. Since I travelled a lot, I worked several times with leather garment workshops and accessories in South America and India. Finally I returned to my first interest : textile design.

Could you describe to us your creative universe ?

Through a collection of five cotton stoles, I imagined an abstract herbarium. Combining graphic prints and light and dark contrasts, I offer a serene and timeless vision.

What are your sources of inspiration ?

I am inspired by the Northern seas, oceans. I try to immerse into the deep waters. From North pole blue ice to the winter whiteness, shades illuminate and shapes are combined.

Also it was during a trip near Chennai that I discovered these long cotton stoles decorated with patterns and various colors. When I got back to France, the GOTA collection was launched mixing expertise, modern patterns and colors.

How do you manufacture your pieces ?

My product design mainly comes from an artistic approach and extensive research. My collections evolve and work in parallel with my photo shoots. All designs are developed after extensive iconographic research.

The purpose of Suprême Bon Ton is to offer a wide range of high quality scarves, printed and manufactured in France. To ensure the quality of my products I work with experienced textiles printers.

During my travels, I glean a lot of samples, different pictures and gathered all my ideas and thoughts into a precious book. Back in my workshop I get out my inspirational material and begin drawing and making compositions. I sometimes use a graphic design software but my way of designing remains mainly manual.

Could you tell us a couple words about your collaboration with MonDéfilé ?

Meeting with MonDéfilé happened in a very human way. A real exchange projects and advice. I think MonDéfilé concept is very interesting. I’m not very comfortable with online selling as I like to know who I am working with, meet my customers have real human relationship. MonDéfilé convinced me and gave me confidence in the strong relationship they share with their customers but also with the fashion designers they collaborate with.

If you were to be a piece of clothing or an accessory, what would you be ?

An unexpected answer … of course a scarf ! Faithful companion for life, that embellishes any outfit !

"The scarf seemed ideal to reflect my idea of passing and memory."
