Olgajeanne Olgajeanne Olgajeanne

Sophie Bailler, designer of the brand Olgajeanne, studies fashion in Paris until 2005, after a first career in press. Then she specialized herself in embroidery and details on clothes.

Who are you?

After a first career in press, I studied fashion at the Studio Bercot in Paris until 2005. Then, I worked for several Premium and luxury brands and specialized myself in embroidery and details on clothes. In 2011, a brand asked me to create a jewelry range for them; creating this range was an eye-opener. In September of the same year, I started my own range of Premium and fancy jewels. It is called Olgajeanne, every item is made with textile materials and produced in my own workshop.

Why did you choose to go into fashion?
Even if creating things had always been a hobby, I had never thought about working in the fashion industry. Fashion actually came to me by itself: working in a press office made me want to see what was “on the other side of the mirror”, so I decided to take fashion classes.

Could you describe to us your creative universe?
I am attracted and fascinated by artisanal savoir-faire linked to textile, but also by pottery and basketry. For my first range, I found the inspiration in honorary and statutory decoration. But my main inspiration comes from art, architecture, and nature that is very present in the city I live in, Marseille.

What are your sources of inspiration?
My sources of inspiration are art, architecture, and nature that is very present in Marseille where I live. I create jewellery with simple lines, somehow very pure but still present and noticeable. My jewellery can transform the silhouette of the woman who wears them, like the shoulder brooch or the diagonal chain.

Could you tell us a couple words about your collaboration with MonDéfilé?
I met the MonDéfilé team during the fashion event The Box, where I was presenting my FW13 collection. An item from my SS13 collection was completely compatible with one of the vote sessions they had planned on the website (cf. a pin for the “androgynous” vote). I am so glad I got the opportunity to make the MonDéfilé users discover this pin, because it is representative of the Olgajeanne jewels.

If you were to be a piece of clothing or an accessory, what would you be?
I would be an adjustable jewel that you could wear on the shoulder, around the waist or the neck. It would be adapted to the body’s movement, and made in a quality material. I haven’t found it yet, now I have to invent it.
