Icône Pourpre

Julie Geronimo and Morgane Dietsch, who created Icône Pourpre in 2010, have very different personalities: the first one is very punk/rock and the other one is more romantic.

Who are you?

We are two designers from Paris. We have very different personalities, but we match really well. The first one is very punk/rock and the other one is more classical, romantic/rock. We created Icône Pourpre in 2010. Our motto is “Chic clothes for flapper women”.

Why did you choose to go into fashion?
The society’s standards of beauty have a real influence on French women. They feel like they have to fit a standard that is not necessarily right for them. They feel frustrated, and that’s why they wear make up and other beauty artifices. For those reasons, we want Icône Pourpre to make women forget about everyone else’s look that forces them to alter their natural beauty. To fight this standardization of the feminine look, we want to single out the feminine beauty by highlighting its personality, with its qualities and defects.

Could you describe to us your creative universe?
We are both addicted to Paris. The Icône Pourpre style is creative, trendy, avant-garde and anti-fashion.

What are your sources of inspiration?
We are inspired by music, muses from other eras, and icons from now and then.

Could you tell us a couple words about your collaboration with MonDéfilé?
We only have one model sold on MonDéfilé for now, but we can’t wait to create more!

If you were to be a piece of clothing or an accessory, what would you be?
We would both be a jacket. It is the main piece of the brand. We would be that one jacket you can’t get enough of, the one you are going to wear as long as you can, any day and any night.
