Second Skin

Discover our new theme of the month: Second Skin. For July and August we have five new fashion designers to introduce you to and five exclusive designs for you vote for on our online platform. Meet our new designers this month!

Mava Haze

Mava Haze, a Barcelona fashion and design graduate, is inspired by geometry and semi-precious gems for her jewellery designs and collections. The brand was launched in 2012, after its founder spent time working for the top Spanish ready-to-wear brands, including landmark chain store Zara. Her exclusive design for our Second Skin vote is the ‘Ilgaak’ cuff bracelet with semi-precious stones. The classic golds, amethysts, and malachite stones give the cuff a timeless but edgy appeal.

Esperluette Paris was founded by Asako Kawate, a Japanese designer living and working in Paris. Her mid-length black silk dress is another timeless and classic addition to our Second Skin vote. Black is the new black definitely applies to this design, and in a soft high-quality silk this dress literally embodies the ageless character of second skin.

Catherine Gaillard

Catherine Gaillard’s designs are inspired equally by contrasts and by her experiences in Morocco, where she has lived for several years. An architect and an artistic director, Catherine has a multitude of influences, but she is driven mainly by the contrast between the traditional and the contemporary, and also by the high-quality Moroccan leather. This very quilted bag is classic with an edgy texture and crafted from authentic leather.

Baies d’Erelle

Baies d’Erelle is inspired by the relationship between jewellery and the body, and the brand is 100% organic and ethical. The style is folky and nomadic, and semi-precious stones feature heavily in the designs. This particular gold-plated necklace is minimalistic in style with exaggerated features such as long fine chains to the back.

Pierre Henry Bor

Pierre Henry Bor is a self-confessed born and bred Parisian designer, belonging to a brand new generation of fresh French design talent. Inspired by the dichotomy between the delicate and the bold, Pierre Henry Bor’s designs are specifically detail-oriented. He has won several design competitions for his innovation and this sleeveless jacket is no different with contrasting button detail and a statement-making leather trim.
